How to bid
1. Auction basics
- Every auction has a start price, a close time, and (sometimes) a reserve.
- Placing a bid is a legally binding offer to buy at that price.
- You must be signed in and have a verified account to bid.
2. Proxy bidding
Set the maximum you're willing to pay; Mnadani will bid on your behalf, one increment above the next-highest bidder, up to your maximum. You only pay what's needed to win — not your maximum.
3. Bid increments
Increments scale with the current price:
- Below TZS 50,000 → TZS 500
- TZS 50,000–500,000 → TZS 5,000
- TZS 500,000–5,000,000 → TZS 25,000
- Above TZS 5,000,000 → TZS 100,000
4. Reserve prices
Some auctions set a hidden reserve — the minimum price the seller is willing to accept. The listing shows Reserve not met until it's cleared. If the reserve isn't met at close, the item doesn't sell.
5. Anti-sniping extension
A bid placed in the last 2 minutes automatically pushes the close time by 2 more minutes, so late bidders don't get to steal wins on the buzzer.
6. Winning & paying
- You're notified in-app and by SMS/email at close.
- Pay within 48 hours through the standard checkout.
- Missing the payment window forfeits the win and can lead to bidding restrictions.
7. Retracting a bid
Bids are binding. Retractions are only allowed if (a) you entered a clearly wrong amount and immediately re-bid the intended amount, (b) the seller materially changed the listing after you bid, or (c) you can't reach the seller before close for essential clarification. Contact support with the auction URL to request a retraction.
8. Bid manipulation
9. Tips
- Read the listing fully before bidding — condition, shipping, return policy.
- Use proxy bidding — decide your maximum calmly, then let the system fight for you.
- Watch, instead of bidding early.
